This Spring I began to move more into the field of reporting, doing live reports from the brush fires in Ridge / Manorville and relaying information, photos and videos back to SmithtownRadio.com and WALK 97.5.

During the first fire on April 9th, I did the following live report on SmithtownRadio.com:

WALK 97.5 at National Pancake Day!

WALK 97.5fm teamed up with two IHOP locations to spread the word about “National Pancake Day” and help raise money to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Anyone who attended received a free short stack of IHOP’s buttermilk pancakes in exchange for any monetary donation. This year’s goal was to raise $2.7 million. IHOP in hauppauge

Bright and early in the morning, WALK 97.5′s very own “Behind the Scenes Joe” greeted hungry attendees, encouraging donations, giving away prizes and just touching base with the community. Check out a video of the event for an interview with the IHOP location’s owner, Chris Foerster!

My colleague Jesse shot the video for this event as I couldn’t make it due to school but I ended up throwing the footage together to make what you’re about to see here! I grabbed the footage of the NEXT video.

The Last Pickle (2011)

An old man opens up a jar of pickles and soon after his life turns into one. Eventually his short temper catches up with him after blowing up at his grandson.

Written, filmed and edited by myself for my Intro to Digital Film Making final project (CIN 117).

Loud, painful high-fives go out to my awesome cast: Alex Wagner, Michael Hirsch, Tom Grisanti, Raymond Weber & Chris Gonzalez. The lot were home for Thanksgiving break giving us limited time but we managed to film the entire project (98 takes over eight different locations) in just over five hours.

This is also my first project produced using Final Cut Pro.

Filmed using a Canon Rebel T1i and the following lenses…

Canon EF-S18-55mm (3.5-5.6) w/Digital Concepts 0.45x Wide Angle Adapter
Canon EF-S 55-250mm (4-5.6)

WALK 97.5′s “Thanks For Giving” Food Drive

This past November, WALK 97.5 teamed up with Long Island Cares to raise over 11,000 pounds of food to ensure thousands of hungry Long Islanders had a Thanksgiving meal.

While working for the radio station I produced the following video showing the greatness that occurred during this highly successful food drive. In addition to WALK’s website, the video was also featured on King Kullen’s Facebook page as well as Long Island Cares.

WALK at the 2011 LI Fall Festival

This October WALK 97.5 joined hundreds of other vendors at the Long Island Fall Festival in Hecksher State Park. I went along to take a few photos and document our presence at the event.

Nardy Network News – Ep. 5 (2011)

Three weeks after the events of Nardy News 4, IP Daily was re-invited to be lead anchor again after he single-handedly stopped a runaway train filled with kittens and lawn mulch. (No, really, with one hand. Just ask the media.)

Despite Daily’s heroic return to fame however, it would not be long before he and his co-anchor struggled with additional conflicts while on-air.

It is highly recommended that you have watched episode four prior to viewing this video. You can also check out the whole series first to ensure you’ll have a better understanding of the events described in this new video.

IP Daily tries to deliver the latest breaking news story when the network is black mailed into making a change, throwing off the chemistry and perhaps even the future of our favourite star news team.

We actually filmed this episode last July but due to complications it brought up in the story line, we decided against releasing it…. until now.

The story of a young lover and the girl and best friend that broke his heart. La Muerte de un Sueno, or, “The Death of a Dream,” was filmed and edited by me for a friend’s Spanish project. (Remember the Global Warming video from last year?) Obviously because it’s for a Spanish class, the language is… well… Spanish. There are however English captions available so don’t be scared away!
